Pace Gallery is seeking a professional and experienced full-time Preparator to join our Tokyo team. We are looking for an individual who is punctual, reliable, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment. This role will focus on providing art handling, installation, and transportation support as part of our Art Resources team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Ensure safe and proper handling, installation and packing of all artworks
  • With on-site team, assist with ensuring timely response to all dealer office requests
  • Ability to confidently assess artwork packing and make suggestions for packing improvements to improve artwork safety
  • Assist with organization, physical housing and tracking of inventory
  • Assist with preparing space for client viewings including all prepping, painting, patching, lighting and artwork installation
  • Assist with receiving and releasing artworks and loading/off-loading trucks
  • Assist with capturing artwork packing information and ensure upload to inventory system
  • Liaise with Registrar team to coordinate artwork condition inspections, conservation, framing, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience working for a gallery, auction house, artist or museum
  • BA in Art History or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with art transportation required
  • Knowledge of best practices and materials for handling, installing and packing artwork
  • Must have a diverse understanding of different mediums and materials and experience installing a wide range of artworks; experience with large sculpture, media-based artworks, etc. a plus
  • A proactive, positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team is essential
  • Ability to clearly communicate with supervisors and fellow preparators is required
  • Must have basic computer skills along with familiarity of database programs/software, Outlook
